Oxidation Removal

RV oxidation removal

When your RV goes chalky and dull, washing won't bring back its original shine. Compounding and polishing will.

What oxidation is

Gelcoat is the glossy outer skin on most fiberglass RVs. Years of sun break its surface down into a chalky layer that fades the color, swallows the shine and comes off white on your hand. It isn't dirt, so no wash removes it. To bring back the original shine, the oxidized surface has to be cut back, refined and polished.

What we do about it

  • A full-contact wash first — roof, windows, tires and wheels, with bug and road grime removal and black streak treatment
  • Machine compounding to cut the oxidized layer back to sound gelcoat — one or two stages, depending on oxidation severity
  • Polishing to bring back the glossy shine
  • A fresh hand-applied wax over the corrected gelcoat

Why we estimate in person

Oxidation removal requires an in-person estimate. Every unit responds differently to compounding. Testing a panel tells us whether one or two stages are required, and how long the job will take. No charge for the visit.

Length, unit type and oxidation severity determine your price estimate. We confirm the price after seeing the unit.
